Al Haqeeqa
Time and again, Indian Muslims have re-affirmed their pride in Indian nationalism. ‘Hindustani’ is an identity reflecting nationalism, harmony and assimilation, has remained the bulwark of the country’s ‘unity in diversity’ as well as syncretic culture. The Almighty has sent several Messiahs during pre-Prophet period to this land with revelations of natural beauty, grandeur, mystic philosophy and scientific streams.
“And for every nation there is a messenger. And when their messenger (Prophet) cometh (on the Day of Judgment) it will be judged between them fairly; and they will not be wronged.” (10:47); ‘And there is not a single people to whom a warner (prophet) has not been sent’. (35:24); ‘Say (O Muslims) : We believe in God and that which is revealed unto us and that which was revealed unto Abraham, and Ishmael and Isaac, and Jacob, and the tribes, and that which Moses and Jesus revealed, and that which the Prophets received from their Lord: we make no distinction between any of them (Prophets) and unto Him (God) have we surrendered’. (2:136); ‘Those who believe (in Islam) and those who are Jews, and Christians, and Sabaeans – whoever believeth in God and the Last Day and doeth good – surely their reward is with their Lord, and there shall no fear come upon them neither shall they grieve’. (2:62); ‘Revile not those unto whom they pray beside All lest they revile God wrongfully through ignorance. Thus unto every nation have we made their deed seem fair. Then unto their lord is their return, and He will tell them what they used to do’. (6:108)
The Muslim community in India is intricately related to country’s heritage, tradition and social fabric without desire/demand of antagonistic identity/citizenship or preferential treatment. Indian Muslim’s identity/ nationalism is in the bone and blood of the country which with amalgamation of inter-faith harmony and tolerance has kept the country united, besides progressing rapidly.
