Happy New Year, baddies! It goes without saying that 2016 was a special one for the #MuslimGirlArmy. You joined us in flooding it with momentous milestones of revolutionizing Muslim women’s media representation to historic heights. You liked that alliteration, didn’t you?
We’re proud to kick off 2017 with this: our #HEIC Amani Al-Khatahtbeh joined CBS’s Face the Nation for their New Year’s Day program on a book panel of diverse and distinguished authors to talk about Muslim Girl: A Coming of Age. She was joined by Isabel Wilkerson, author of The Warmth of Other Suns, J.D. Vance, author of Hillbilly Elegy, and Diane Guerrero, author of In the Country We Love. They discussed how their unique experiences shaped their writing.
They painted a picture of what American walks of life really look like. If this conversation is a signifier of what’s the come, the the new year is already looking pretty sweet. What do you think?
