New Delhi: Rights group NCHRO‘s fact finding team come out with chilling details about the Aligarh encounter in which UP police killed two Muslim youths aged 21 and 17 years respectively on September 20. Founding similarity between Apple employ Tiwari’s encounter and Aligarh encounter, it said the UP government or the media did not swing into action like the one the and demanded the high level probe into the “encounter” and lifting the siege of victims’ houses. It also revealed that five more Muslim youths were arrested on the charges of murdering the Hindu priests by the UP police.
The “encounter” killing of two youth Mustaqim (22) and Naushad (17) in Haduaganj in Aligarh on Sep 20th was reported immediately after it took place in websites like NDTV or DNA with a note that they were “invited” by the Aligarh police well before they shot those two victims in their presence.
Aligarh police Chief Ajay Sahni claimed that they were pronounced dead in the hospital where the two victims were taken accusing that both two were involved in the murder of six persons including two Hindu priests.
However, Rihai Manch, an independent advocacy group had refuted the Police claim saying Giriraj Singh, brother of the slain temple priest Roop Singh has not only raised question over the murder of his brother but also on the September 20th encounter. A fact finding team of Rihai Manch had also visited the slain priest family. Rihai Manch’s general secretary Rajeev Yadav , who the led team, visited not only the families of Mustakeem and Naushad but also the family members of slain temple priest, Roop Singh, who was alleged killed by them on September 14 night. The family members of Roop Singh had told that Naushad and Mustakeem shot dead in the encounter by the police were “innocent”. Giriraj Singh, brother of Roop Singh, has not only raised question over the murder of his brother but also on the September 20th police encounter. Singh had told the delegation that the time police mentioned the killing of Roop Singh nailed the lie of Police as Roop Singh was actually with him in the temple during that time. He said some local people were involved in the murder of his brother.
Police version was also vehemently refuted by Naushad’s mother Shaheen and Mustaqim’s mother Raffeeqan. Both ladies said the police picked up both their sons from their house in Atrauli. Shaheen also said that the two were innocent and didn’t have any criminal record as the police alleged. They also alleged that their houses were raided and all the documents and money were taken away by the police.
The UP government says 66 people have been killed in police encounters since March 2017, when Yogi Adityanath took charge as chief minister of the state.
Advocate Ansari Indori said NCHRO strongly believes that this encounter was a fake one. The Supreme Court as well NHRC had given detailed guidelines to be followed in case of encounter killings. As per the guidelines all those involved in the encounter should be suspended and cases should be filed against then for murder charges, he said. No gallant awards or rank promotions should be given to those who are involved in this encounter and until they prove their innocence they should be treated as murder accused, he added.
“We also demand that the women in the encounter victims house should be left free and the police should stop harassing them. We also understand that five more Muslim youths are now arrested on the charges of murdering the Hindu priests and some other people. Since now the family members of the slain priest themselves say that they are innocents and some other local people are involved in it, all these five young men should be released immediately. They can be called when and then they are required for any enquiry.”
NCHRO also demanded that the enquiry should also include why and how so many encounter killings happened in a brief period after Yogi Adityanath assumed power in this sensitive state of the country.
