“If you hear of an outbreak of plague in a land, do not enter it; but if the plague breaks out in a place while you are in it, do not leave that place.” Sahih al-Bukhari 5728
Covid-19, a disease is caused by a highly contagious virus called the Coronavirus, which latches onto a victim without differentiating. It doesnt care about an individual’s religion, ethnicity, race or caste. But what has lately been seen that people with vested interest have turned this epidemic into a communal issue in India. Due to constant targeted efforts of hate mongers, Corona now has a religion and is being addressed as an Islamic conspiracy. This fraction of fanatics is mostly backed up by those hoping to get some political dividends. The hand of enemy countries like Pakistan cannot be ruled out who are using this epidemic to create fear and instability in India.
In order to shed more light on this issue as to why this pandemic cannot and should not be blamed on Muslims, example can be cited of many things all Muslims abide by and are decreed by Allah to do so: Firstly, Prophet (PBUH) directed all Muslims to not leave or enter the land of pandemics which if one think logically constraints and limits the spread of virus. It is nothing but modern quarantine which we have been asked to observe till now. Imagine, if no one had left China, would humanity be afflicted right now? Secondly, the Prophet (PBUH), many centuries ago, asked his people to not meet each other and limit their contact to save lives during pandemic. Why? He did so because Islam ensures and safeguards life and health of people. Thirdly, not only a Muslim is decreed upon to not leave the place of pandemic but if he inflicts anyone with the virus knowingly, it is as if he has stripped that person of his rights of health which Allah will never forgive. This clearly is a proof that Islam does not teach a Muslim to inflict pain or even hurt anyone knowingly. Fourthly and lastly, the Prophet (PBUH) asked to never sleep while his neighbor sleeps empty stomach. This shows that Islam values the life of an individual. It does not discriminate on the basis of an individual’s religion, caste or creed. The living proof of which can be seen when Tablighis were tested positive for corona and later all got cured which eventually resulted in them donating their plasma to help others recover from Corona. What if they decided to not help? But they did not because not only do Muslims of this country at large loves their brothers in humanity but that is what Islam teaches them to do.
Sometimes, we are so deeply sunk into our hatred, which mostly is the result of our prejudice against each other that we ignore to see beyond the horizon and this weakness is being utilized by our enemies to weaken us. This creates hindrances in our advancement towards development. We are only stronger if we are together and it is time that we come together as brothers and sisters and defeat this virus like we should. Now is the best time to show the world that there can be internal difference between us but in the face of existential crisis, all Indians are one & united.
