A Mosque paves way for cultural exchange

The 167 year old Jama Masjid, Kalyan (Maharashtra) has invited (February 10, 2019) around 125 non-Muslims as part of its ‘Masjid Parichay’ initiative aiming to strengthen interfaith assimilation and syncretic culture of India. The programme included exploring the building/sanctorum, explaining the religious practices i.e. Wuju, Namaj, Ibadat etc., besides a visit to the mosque’s library. Non-Muslims accolade that this attempt by their Muslim brethren and termed it as an immersive learning experience, besides an opportunity of knowing the inclusive perspective of Islam. Such initiatives of Hindu-Muslim interaction go long way in strengthening the communal harmony and brotherly equations in the country.
