Supreme Court in March 8, 2018, ruled that the Hadiya‘s marriage with Shafin Jahan was valid
NEW DELHI: February 27 marks an important day in Hadiya Asokan’s life as she reached an important destination out of all odds and deserves this moment of success.
“This shining victory is an outstanding achievement because it comes at the end of countless prayers, relentless struggles of separation and imprisonment, love, patience and so on…”
“Alhamdulillah! Finally You reached an important destination out of all odds. Very proud to address you a Doctor,” Shafin Jahan wrote on his Facebook account announcing that his wife, Hadiya Asokan, is now a doctor.
Born to Hindu parents, KM Ashokan and Ponnamma, in Kerala’s Kottayam, Hadiya during her college days left Hinduism to embrace Islam and married Shafin Jahan following which Kerala High Court annulled Hadiya’s marriage after a petition filed by her father in 2017 claiming that his daughter was indoctrinated and was forcibly converted.
Setting aside a Kerala HC judgement, Supreme Court in March 8, 2018, ruled that the Hadiya‘s marriage with Shafin Jahan was valid and allowed her to live with her husband.
