Bikaner: In one more such communal incident, a Muslim man was allegedly thrashed by the family of a Hindu woman, who later died in the hospital due to his injuries. The incident happened on Tuesday evening when 22-year-old Saif Ali went to meet the woman.
Saif, the sole breadwinner for his parents, would weigh fruits at a market. On Tuesday evening he had gone to meet the woman in Rampura Basti at 9 pm, Bikaner superintendent of police (SP) Sawai Singh Godara said. “Family members of the woman had planned to beat up Saif,” he added. Hindustan Times quoted district police chief as saying ‘the woman’s family took Saif to the Karni Industrial Area on the outskirts of the city in a car and beat him up’.
“After rescuing him, we admitted him to a hospital. His legs were badly disfigured. The doctors treated him but he died at 3:30 am on Wednesday,” said Godara, adding that the cause of his death is yet to be ascertained. He was buried on Wednesday after an autopsy.
Godara further said: “Can’t call it a ‘love-jihad’ case, in this age when you study together attraction, can happen & then you don’t see religion or community”.

An FIR has been lodged against Bunty, the woman’s cousin, Shiv Mali, Raja Sonar, Gopal Khati, Bablu Mali and two others for murder, abduction for murder, wrongful restraint, voluntarily causing hurt, eliminating evidence, and rioting, the police said. They have detained three people including Bunty, HT report said.
The woman wanted to marry Saif, but he himself was reluctant due to their different religions, as well as for he was the only support for his parents and their only child. Saif used to earn Rs 6000 a month, his friend said.
