On April 24th, during a speech given to the Veerashaiva-Lingayat community near former Chief Minister B.S. Yediyurappa’s residence in Shivamogga, BJP leader and former Karnataka minister K S Eshwarappa stated that his party did not require the support of Muslim voters in the upcoming Karnataka Assembly elections on May 10th. He further added that nationalist Muslims would automatically vote for the BJP.

“We should engage with people from all castes and inquire about the advantages they have gained during the BJP’s governance. Each community has benefited. In the city, there are approximately 60,000 Muslims. We do not require their votes. However, there are individual Muslims who have received our assistance whenever they were in need, and they would vote for us. I am confident that nationalist Muslims will vote for the BJP,” he said

“During the BJP’s tenure, Hindus were secure, and no one dared to attack them. The public has a sense that they will not be as safe if any non-BJP government comes to power,” Eshwarappa said.

The BJP leader also expressed his admiration for veteran party member B S Yediyurappa, describing him as an exemplary leader for the Hindu community, including the Lingayats.

He stated that Yediyurappa was a genuine Hindu and that the party’s candidate, Channabasappa, was a leader who could strengthen the Hindu community in the city.
