GORAKHPUR: Speaking on the controversy over Pakistan’s founder Mohammad Ali Jinnah, Gorakhpur MP Praveen Kumar Nishad on Thursday said that Mohammad Ali Jinnah also contribute to India’s freedom struggle just like Mahatma Gandhi or Jawaharlal Nehru.
According to Hindustan Times report, the newly elected MP said that BJP is doing politics in the name of Jinnah.
“The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is politicising the issue, and this is highly condemnable. Like Mahatma Gandhi and Jawaharlal Nehru, Jinnah also contributed to the freedom movement,” Nishad said.
“Like Hindus, Muslims also participated in the freedom struggle and their contribution is well-documented. The BJP is dividing people on the basis of caste and religion by raising such issues,” he said. “When we speak of Shaheed-e-Azam Bhagat Singh, we also remember Ashfaqullah Khan and Veer Abdul Hameed who laid down their lives for the country. BJP wants people to forget their contribution to the cause.”
The comment comes after UP CM Adityanath on the matter of Jinnha portrait said that state can’t intervene in matters of Central university.
Violence broke out at the university yesterday after the right-wing protestors barged into the varsity demandingthe removal of Jinnah’s portrait displayed on the University campus.
