Delhi Police Constable clears UPSC exam against all odds

An example of the famous saying “Himmat e Marda- Madad e Khuda” has been seen in the national capital as a constable from Delhi Police has cleared the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) exam with his hard work and dedication.

Delhi Police Constable Feroz Alam, who is posted in the PCR unit of the police force of the national capital, has cleared the UPSC exam and now, under DANISP, will be training for the post of ACP in Delhi Police.

Feroz Alam’s journey has been full of hard work and resilience, as he worked as a constable in Delhi police for 10 years, during which he kept preparing for national-level competitive examinations such as UPSC.

With his hard work, Alam has cleared the UPSC examination and is all set to become an Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP). Currently, Feroz Alam’s training is going on at Delhi Police Training Center Jhadodakala and he will also get a deployment by March next year.

Feroz Alam inspired by senior officers

Feroz Alam is originally from the Hapur Pilkhuwa district in Uttar Pradesh. Born in the house of Mohammad Shahadat and Munni Bano in Azampur Dehra village, Alam joined Delhi Police in 2010 after clearing his Class 12 board exams.

Feroz said, “After joining the Delhi Police in 2010, I was very impressed with the way my senior officers functioned and their status. Seeing them, I had decided that I too had to become an officer, and the only way for this was UPSC.”

To realise his dream, Alam started preparing for the UPSC Civil Services examinations, all the while working as a police constable. Juggling a full-time job, along with the UPSC preparation proved to be very hard for Feroz.

He said, “UPSC was not as easy as I thought. I constantly failed. After failing five times, I almost gave up the dream of becoming an officer, but when I saw that Vijay Singh Gurjar, a tehsil from Rajasthan became a part of IPS, I too decided to realise my dream.”

Feroz Alam cleared the UPSC Civil Services examinations in 2019 on his sixth try. He secured a rank of 645 and decided to join the Indian Police Services.
