In the spirit of the Holy month of Ramzan, the well-known Indian businessman Siddharth Balachandran has donated 10 million dirhams (Rs. 22.61 cr) for a charity campaign in the United Arab Emirates that seeks to provide education to the under-privileged communities across the world.
Siddharth Balachandran, Executive Chairman and CEO of Buimerc Corporation Ltd. DIFC, donated the money to The Mother’s Endowment campaign,launched by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, vice president, prime minister and ruler of Dubai, to honour mothers by setting up an endowment fund worth a billion AED to support education at the global level.
Balachanran, a UAE based enterpreneur has been confered with the Pravasi Bhatriya Samman Award last year is a well-known philanthropist and a prominent figure in the UAE business and social circles. He is the founder of the India Club in Dubai and the Patron Governor of the Indian Social and Cultural Club in Abu Dhabi.
Balachandran also invited people to donate in their mothers’ names so that the fund raised would be used to educate millions around the world.
He thanked Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid for the opportunity to help celebrate the generosity of mothers.
He said that he was happy to know that the fund would reach out to underprivileged communities around the world, and help their mothers.
“Also, as an Indian citizen living in the UAE, this is an opportunity for me to show the goodwill between these two great nations,” he said. Inviting people to donate he said, “Come and play your part in lifting up the world’s poor and marginalized.
The Mother’s Endowment campaign is particularly important as millions of people around the world live difficult lives, where access to education and training is not possible. This endowment fund will play a key role in empowering them to improve their reality through education.
The Global Initiatives, Mothers’ Endowment Campaign aims to empower disadvantaged communities and vulnerable people in the UAE.
Coinciding with the holy month of Ramzan, the campaign aims to instill the value of parental respect, kindness, compassion and solidarity throughout the community, as well as strengthen the humanitarian character of the UAE.

It also promotes the concept of endowment as a development tool that ensures sustainable philanthropy and supports global efforts for sustainable development.
