Israel-Palestine conflict: Special Prayers at Ajmer Sharif for peace

Special prayers were held at the Ajmer Dargah for peace and early resolution to the escalation between Israel- and Palestine following hamas launching massive attacks on the Jewish country and killing at least 100 Israelis and Tel Aviv calling the attack as an act of war. Indian Muslim intellectuals have called for peace amidst in the region.

Eminent scholars and intellectuals of India have expressed serious concern over the war between Israel and the Palestinian militant group Hamas. They emphasized that war is not a solution to any problem and that peace talks must take place.

Haji Syed Salman Chishty, Chairperson of Chishty Foundation Ajmer, said: “After the namaz special prayers were held at the Ajmer Dargah. All the world peace organisations should come together to diffuse the situation and work towards resolution of the conflict.”

He said, during the G-20 PM Modi had reiterated that it is not the era of war. We condemn the terrorist attacks on the Israeli soil, adding, no common citizens of Israel and Palestine should made to suffer. Peace is the only way forward.

Khwaja Iftikhar, President, Inter-Faith Harmony Foundation of India, said that it is actually very unfortunate. The conflicts are not being resolved. It has been going on since 1967. There should be peace all over the world but unfortunately there no peace at all. It is actually very painful to see the loss of precious human lives. For how long this conflict will go on? All the conflicts should be resolved as early as possible to save innocent lives.

Zakir Hussain, another scholar of West Asian studies, said the world should come together to resolve the issues of Israel and Palestine. It has been neglected over the decades; Palestinians are desperate now for their lands. Hamas are the extremists, who think they can solve their age-old issues with their weapons of violence. India will come up with some mechanism to establish peace.

Earlier during the day PM Modi was amongst the first world leaders to have expressed solidarity with Israel. PM Modi in a tweet said “we are deeply-shocked by such attacks and India stands in solidarity with Israel at this difficult hour. Our thoughts and prayers are with the innocent victims and their families.”

The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia issued a statement, saying, it is closely following the developments of the unprecedented situation between a number of Palestinian factions and the Israeli occupation forces, which has resulted in a high level of violence on several fronts there. The Kingdom calls for an immediate halt to the escalation between the two sides, the protection of civilians, and restraint.

The United Arab Emirates has expressed great concern regarding the escalation of violence and stressed the importance of halting escalation and preserving the lives of civilians. The UAE has expressed with sincere condolences to all the victims of the recent crisis.

In a statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs stressed that the UAE has called for exercising the utmost restraint and an immediate ceasefire in order to avoid serious repercussions.

In a sudden escalation the terror group Hamas launched an unprecedented assault on Israel in the morning, firing thousands of rockets and sending gunmen into Israeli communities by land, sea and air, killing at least 40 people and injuring hundreds. Israeli military and security forces were taken completely by surprise. Reporters suggested more than one 35 Israeli citizens were taken hostages by Hamas.

Following which Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu announced that Israel is at war and that Hamas would have to pay an unprecedented price for this. This was followed by Israeli retaliation against Palestinian.

According to reports by international media in the retaliatory attacks at least 198 people have been killed and 1,610 wounded. Israeli Navy killed dozens of Palestinian terrorists, who attempted to infiltrate into Israel this morning.
