Muqtar Ahmed Ansari, a firm believer in total independence and Indian assimilative culture of inter-faith harmony , was born at Ghazipur (UP) on 25th December, 1880. Ansari,a Practising Surgeon who always served/ treated poor without financial considerations. He participated in Home Rule, Non-Cooperation, Anti-Rowlatt Act Movements and was pivotal in structuring the ‘ Lucknow Pact’ between Congress and Muslim League for a consensus on a combined fight against British Rule. He kept on voicing strongly against ‘Cow Slaughter’ during BakrEid and conducting of Unity Conference 1924/ 1927 which marked his total dedication to Hindu Muslim brotherly equations. He also remained the Chancellor of ‘Jamia Milia’. He always raised the issue of nationalism among Muslims. Ansari, a renowned philanthropist who became bankrupt due to spending his wealth for the National Movement, passed away on 10th May, 1936.
