New Delhi Prof Imran Ali has brought yet another laurel for the historic Jamia Millia Islamia(JMI) as he secured a place in the coveted list of Highly Cited Researchers(HCR) 2020 released by the USA’s Web of Science, Clarivate Plc. Prof Ali was recently adjudged as the number one scientist in India and 24th in the World in the field of Analytical Chemistry by a group of scientists from the University of Stanford, USA.
Prof. Imran Ali, who teaches in the Department of Chemistry in Jamia, is a forerunner and leading researcher in India in the area of chiral separations by chromatography and capillary electrophoresis. He is also a leading researcher in the world in the area of chiral pollutants
HCR 2020 identifies researchers who “demonstrated significant influence in their chosen field or fields through the publication of multiple highly cited papers during the last decade.” Their names are drawn from the publications that rank in the top 1% by citations for field and publication year in the Web of Science citation index, according to Clarivate Plc.
The HCR 2020 “who’s who” list includes 6,167 researchers from 60 different countries. The list includes 26 Nobel laureates, including three announced this year – CRISPR pioneers Emmanuelle Charpentier, Jennifer A. Doudna and Reinhard Genzel.
Prof. Imran Ali is a vibrant and most active Professor with high Google citations of 25,500, 82 h-index and 260 i10-index. He has a high scientific profile and an excellent international reputation. His primary research goals are multidisciplinary with the main emphasis on Environmental, Analytical, Organic and Water Chemistry. His specific research includes water treatment, water quality, development of anti-cancer and chiral drugs, pharmaceutical and xenobiotics analysis by chromatography and capillary electrophoresis. He is the pioneer to highlight the importance of the chirality concept in the pollutants i.e. study of the chiral pollutants.
He is a world-recognized academician and researcher with more than 450 publications including patents, books, several book chapters, research papers, technical reports and conference presentations.
On his new feat, Prof. Najma Akhtar, Vice Chancellor, Jamia congratulated him saying he has once again made the university proud by securing a place in the coveted list.
“I am delighted not only to see his name in the list but because of him the name of Jamia Millia Islamia has been included among the world’s outstanding Institutions and Universities.
