“Terrorist will have no safe space under my watch” says Britain Home Sec. Javid

London: Islamophobia that has gripped many nations across the globe due to so-called Islamist terrorist will have no safe haven in London says British home secretary Sajid Javid.

While addressing a speech on security this Monday Home Secretary Sajid Javid said that Islamist terrorists are the “biggest” threat and he shall strictly monitor and take necessary steps in ensuring there remain “no safe spaces” for terrorist whether online or offline under his watch, HT reported.

Reminding that Muslims remain to be the biggest victims of Islamist terrorism across the globe including genocides in Syria, Palestine, Myanmar where millions and millions of Muslims are mass murdered.

Javid said since June 2013 the country’s as a counter-terrorism measures the security agencies had foiled as many as 25 Islamist plots and 12 similar plots since March 2017.

The Counter-terrorism measures that were taken up by the security agencies who were handling over 500 live operations which involved 3,000 individuals had foiled these plots said Javid.

He added there were over 20,000 individuals who had been thoroughly investigated and may again pose a threat.

He recalls the conversation he had with his daughter after the 2015 Charlie Hebdo attack, Javid had said: “I know they are not true Muslims. But there’s no avoiding the fact that these people they self-identify as Muslims.”

“Let me be very clear. Muslims are in no way responsible for the acts of a tiny minority who twist their faith. And I know that there is no such thing as a single, homogenous Muslim community. Muslims live and thrive in all walks of British life and society,” is what Javid replied to his daughter.

The biggest threat, he said, emanates “from Islamist terrorism – including al-Qaeda, but particularly from Daesh (Islamic State)”, but also the extreme right-wing terrorism which on the rise.

“(There’s) one other thing that Islamists and the far right have in common… As a home secretary with a name like Sajid Javid — I’m everything that they despise. So the way I see it, I must be doing something right,” he said.

Speaking of their countermeasures to combat terrorism, Javid said: “Ultimately, our approach is about ensuring that there are no safe spaces for terrorists. No safe spaces internationally in which terrorist ideology can develop and from where complex attacks can be launched.

“No safe spaces in the UK for terrorists to spread their vile views, or for them to plan and carry out attacks. And no safe spaces online for terrorist propaganda and technical expertise to be shared, and for people to be radicalized in a matter of weeks.”
