Mangaluru: Bearys Institute of Technology’s held its 6th Graduation Day on Saturday which has carved out a niche for itself in a short period of time. The sixth Graduation Ceremony of the Institute was organized at Mangala Hall of Mangalore University here.
Speaking after inaugurating the Ceremony, Dr. M Shantharam Shetty, Pro-Chancellor of Nitte University, said students should know their responsibilities and they can pay back to the society serving it with creative and positive thinking. Outlining the social and educational state of the country, Dr. Shetty said it is unfortunate to see many illiterates in the country while a mere eight percent gets higher and professional education in the country.
“There are many illiterates in our society. Only eight percent of students are getting the higher education. Among them, only 1 percent of students are getting Ph.D. We must honestly try to repay the debt of our parents, teachers, and society because of whom we got the education.”
On the occasion, he also encouraged the students saying if they do not savour success, they should not lose the heart.
“Many of the most Known personalities in the world have failed to achieve success many times, but they took it up as a challenge he added and cited the examples of scientist Thomas Alva Edison and Edmund Hillary who climbed Everest. He called the students to be successful with such positive thinking.
In his keynote address, Dr. A Sridharan, former Deputy Director of Indian Institute of Science, Bengaluru, said students need to adapt to new technology and be prepared to learn from anyone they come across in their life. He also gave a word of advice to the students asking them to always remember their parents and teachers and spend at least 5% of their income on the society.
In his speech, MRPL Managing Director Venkatesh focused on the need for linking the Industry with academia.
Presiding over the function, Syed Muhammad Beary, Chairman of the Bearys Academy of Learning, said “global peace and harmony can be achieved with a good human relationship. The objective of our life should be to help others.
Besides Muhammad Beary, Trustee Mazhar Beary, New Dean Mahabaleshwarappa, Senior Adviser Dr. S.K. Raikar, Principal of BEADS Ashok M., Principal of BIT Polytechnic Dr. Azeez Mustafa and others also spoke on the occasion. BIT Principal Dr. Antony AJ welcomed the gathering while Program convenor Dr. Mustafa Basthikodi present the vote of thanks.
