UN Chief Antonio hopes authorities bring justice to the perpetrators in Kathua case

United Nations: The whole nation, stood as one, demanding justice for the recent rape and murder of eight-year-old nomadic Muslim girl from J&K, following which United Nations Chief Antonio Guterres expressed the perpetrators should be punished.

Terming the incident as “horrific” UN chief Antonio Guterres expressed hope that the authorities in India will bring the perpetrators of the brutal crime to justice, PTI reported.

Responding to a question about the Secretary General’s response on the brutal crime, Guterres’ spokesperson Stephane Dujjaric told, “I think we’ve seen the media reports of this horrific case, of the abuse and the murder of a young girl. We very much hope that the authorities will bring the perpetrators to justice so they can be held accountable for the murder of this young girl,” while briefing the reporters on Friday.

An eight-year-old nomadic Muslim girl from Kathua region in Jammu and Kashmir was allegedly drugged, raped repeatedly by six men after she was abducted and confined in a temple for a week in the month of January. She was later hacked to death and thrown away.

A Special Investigation Team of Crime Branch probing the case has recently arrested eight people involved in the brutal crime including two special police officers (SPOs), a head constable and a sub-inspector, all are charged with destroying evidence.

PM Modi finally broke his silence on the brutal crime on Friday calling the incident as a “shame” for the country.

He said, “I want to assure the nation that no criminal will be spared. Justice will be done. Our daughters will get justice.”
