A Muslim named Mumtaj Muhammad is the caretaker of a Hindu Temple of goddess Kali, situated at Goshala by the only highway leading to Assam through district Coochebehar in West Bengal. He conducts daily Puja, besides washing the sacred paraphernalia, arranging flowers and cleaning the temple premises. Being more than 300 years old, the temple is a major attraction for devotees belonging to the northern part of West Bengal who accolade this act of inter religious harmony and syncretic culture as well ‘unity in diversity’ of the country.
