Ghaziabad: A 25-year-old Muslim man was allegedly beaten up by members of right-wing Hindu organisation at a Ghaziabad court where he had gone to marry a Hindu woman, police said on Tuesday.

Sahil, who works at a Noida firm, went to the court to register his marriage with Preeti Singh on Monday afternoon when the crowd attacked them, Sanjay Panday, the Station House Officer (SHO) of Sihani Gate police station, told IANS.
“After they fell in love, they decided to marry as their parents were not agreeing. The girl is a Rajput by caste and the man was Muslim. The couple wanted to register their marriage at Ghaziabad court as a friend told that it is safe and easy process there,” a police official said, reported The Hindu.
A video of the assault has gone viral on the social media platforms.

The police personnel at the court saved the man from the attackers.
“We have registered an FIR against two men — Vinod and Navneet — and several unknown persons. No arrest has been made so far,” Panday said.
Sahil, who hails from Bhopal, sustained minor injuries while the woman, from Bijnore in Uttar Pradesh, escaped unhurt.
