The core of the Islamic religion is the Quran, which is a book that is believed by the Muslim to be the final revelation of their god, Allah. Muhammad, the prophet of Allah was given the word of Allah through the Angel Gabriel. Muhammad memorized it and dictated it to his companions. They later memorized it, wrote it down, and reviewed it with Muhammad. Muhammad reviews the Quran with the Angel Gabriel annually. He reviewed it with the Angel Gabriel twice in the last year of his life. Many Muslims have memorized the Quran, but not one single word has ever been changed in it. The Qur’an was revealed 14 centuries ago. Some of the facts in the Quran have only recently been proven. Many people think that because these facts that were stated so long ago were proven just recently, that this is the true word of God and that Muhammad is the only true prophet sent by God. Because the Quran was revealed in Arabic, this is the language used in the Islamic religion all over the world.
Muslims, or people of the Islamic religion, go to Allah through the 5 basic pillars. They are as follows:
1. Shahadah-The affirmation that there is no god but God and that Muhammad is the only prophet.
2. Salah- The five daily ritual prayers.
3. Zakat- The giving of alms.
4. Sawm- The dawn to sunset fast during the lunar month of Ramadan.
5. Hajj- the holy pilgrimage to Mecca.
The Hajj can hardly be overestimated: this great annual pilgrimage unites Muslims all around the world.
I think that the Islamic religion is astonishingly similar to Christianity. They are both based on a book that was told to them by there one and only prophet. This prophet learned the teachings of this book from the religions one and only God.

– 7 cities and 5 countries later I had a firm believe that I knew exactly what integration and multiculturalism was- however, when asked for a definition and the implication of such within a society I was left short of words. History Of Islam Essay

– When Charles Martel defeated the Muslims in Spain and stopped their advance into greater Europe (Ahmed 67)0, he most likely did not know just how much of an effect his victory had on the history of not only Europe, but of the known world. The fact that Islam may have overtaken the rest of the world had it not been for that crucial battle attests to the strength of this relatively new religion. If the strength of the religion is dependent upon those who start it, then it is important to analyze the life of the one key character in history who began it all….   [tags: essays research papers fc]

Essay on What Makes Islam, Islam?

– Religion can be viewed from many different perspectives. People throughout the world hold different religious values. One person’s religious value will not match the religious values of another person. Globalization as a whole has affected the way we view the different religions and our feelings towards them; it has moved towards a more symbolic representation of ideologies. Many have come to believe that the west is more superior to others. Martha Crenshaw argues that globalization is a key driver of terrorism because there is a comparison between countries having less access to means of production and others having more access….   [tags: Islam ]

– In my research paper, I will try to argue that the way that Muslim extremists treat women in Islam, couldn’t be further away than what the Islam preaches. Misinformation and misconception about Muslim women is the main reasons why so many Westerner’s have the picture of Islam, especially in America, associated it with bad images of oppressed women hiding in their hijab,, or walking behind their husbands.
